Job Description

Revolution Medicines is a global, commercial-state oncology company dedicated to discovering, developing and delivering innovative medicines for patients with RAS-addicted cancers. Leveraging its differentiated RAS(ON) tri-complex inhibitor platform, the company is advancing a broad, integrated portfolio of oral RAS(ON) inhibitors designed to directly target the active, cancer-driving state of RAS. Founded on rigorous scientific inquiry and a willingness to challenge long-held assumptions, Revolution Medicines is committed to changing the trajectory of disease for patients with RAS-addicted cancers worldwide.

Our people are united by a shared way of working: follow the science, challenge assumptions, act with urgency and hold ourselves to a high standard of rigor—all in service of patients.

The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines is seeking an experienced commercial contracts attorney to serve as Associate Director, Contracts Counsel. Reporting to the Senior Director, Contracts, this role will provide strategic, practical legal support to the Commercial function and other cross-functional stakeholders as the Company prepares for commercialization and continues to grow. Working collaboratively within the Legal department, this role will lead the commercial contracting discipline, including the drafting, negotiation, and management of a broad range of commercial agreements, advise on related legal, business, regulatory, and compliance considerations, and drive strategic contracting initiatives with impact beyond the Legal function.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting, review, negotiation, and management of commercial agreements supporting commercialization and overall business operations, including but not limited to master services, consulting, data, distribution, licenses, market access, patient support, and other customer- and vendor-facing arrangements.

  • Partner with Commercial, Market Access, Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Patient Support, Finance, Procurement, and Compliance to deliver timely, practical legal support.

  • Understand how to contract and operate in a highly regulated pharmaceutical industry environment and identify and proactively support overall healthcare compliance.

  • Advise internal stakeholders on contract structure, interpretation, performance, and compliance, translating complex legal concepts into clear, actionable business advice.

  • Proactively identify, assess, and communicate legal, regulatory, operational, and reputational risks associated with commercial arrangements, including how contracting issues affect other functions, and recommend pragmatic mitigation strategies for highly complex or novel matters.

  • Translate Legal and Commercial strategy into commercial contracting plans that support commercialization and launch readiness, manage their execution, and track operational effectiveness, consistent with applicable legal and compliance requirements.

  • Establish, develop, and maintain commercial contracting policies, procedures, templates, playbooks, approval processes, and contract-lifecycle tools, including the Company's contract management system and key obligations, in alignment with established Legal department objectives.

  • Drive contracting process improvement and change initiatives, and train and guide business teams on contract templates, contracting processes, and commercial-contracting best practices to ensure successful adoption, transparency, buy-in, and alignment.

  • Coordinate with counterparties, outside counsel, and internal Legal and Compliance colleagues on contract negotiations, disputes, and other commercial matters, as appropriate, and manage outside counsel.

  • Support contracting for healthcare professional engagements, including consulting, advisory board, and speaker arrangements in coordination with the Compliance team.

  • Regularly collaborate with and advise senior management and executive leadership on significant commercial contracting matters, influence policy and decision-making, and provide input that consistently informs director-level decisions.

  • As the contracting function grows, may mentor, and develop attorneys, contract managers, or other professionals, delegating assignments and fostering a high-performance, feedback-driven culture rooted in collaboration, integrity, and inclusivity.

  • Represent the Legal department and the Company in contracting matters with external stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities and Role Evolution

As a growing organization, the Legal Department continues to evolve to meet changing business needs. The responsibilities outlined in this job description describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list.

The Associate Director, Contracts Counsel may take on additional assignments, projects, and responsibilities to support the Legal team and broader business objectives. Responsibilities may change or expand based on organizational priorities, business growth, process improvements, technology implementations, and evolving legal or regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, a service-oriented mindset, and a willingness to contribute beyond the core responsibilities of the position.

Required Skills, Experience and Education:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar, and  California Registered In-House Counsel.

  • 7+ years of relevant legal experience, including substantial commercial pharmaceutical contracting experience (a combination of law firm and in-house experience).

  • Required experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a strong understanding of the legal and business considerations that arise in a regulated life sciences environment.

  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, risk-assessment, and business-counseling skills, including the ability to distinguish material issues from non-material matters and drive appropriate resolutions.

  • Strong project-management, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, build consensus, and influence senior leaders in delicate or complex situations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with the highest ethical standards, professionalism, sound judgment, and commitment to RevMed's values.

  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability, including leading by influence and fostering adaptability, trust, and inclusivity during rapid organizational scaling and change.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience supporting commercial-stage products, product launches, or commercialization activities, preferably in-house at a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company, with a strong understanding of the legal and business considerations that arise in a regulated environment.

  • Familiarity with legal and compliance considerations relevant to pharmaceutical commercialization, including market access, patient support, distribution, healthcare compliance, privacy, and promotional activities.
