Job Description

Position Overview

The AU Accountant will support the finance function through financial reporting, reconciliations, statutory reporting support, month-end processes, and day-to-day accounting activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, a sound understanding of Australian accounting requirements, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records while working independently within a remote finance team.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Prepare and support financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with Australian accounting standards and internal procedures.
  • Process journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger transactions.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, reporting, variance analysis, and supporting documentation.

Compliance & Systems

  • Support BAS, GST, and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Utilize accounting systems such as Xero, MYOB, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar platforms.
  • Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and reporting efficiencies.

Stakeholder & Team Support

  • Respond to finance-related queries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively within a remote finance team while managing tasks independently.
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 2–3+ years’ experience in an accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or similar finance support role.
  • Basic understanding of Australian accounting principles, BAS, GST, and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with Xero, MYOB, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, or similar accounting systems is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to manage financial data, reconciliations, and reporting tasks accurately.
  • High attention to detail and numerical accuracy across journals, reconciliations, reports, and financial records.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and support month-end requirements.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for internal and external finance queries.
  • Willingness to undertake further professional development, such as a CA or CPA pathway.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote team structure
