Responsibilities
- Lead assessments for retiree Health & Welfare benefit plans, including plan restatements, amendments, and benefit change documentation
- Ensure compliance with ERISA and regulatory requirements, including support for initiatives such as Mental Health Parity and other policy changes
- Analyze and prepare large, complex datasets for regulatory filings (5500s, CMS, PCORI)
- Support development and distribution of Summary Material Modifications (SMM) for retirees
- Conduct research across vendor implementations, plan documents, and HRIS data to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Partner cross-functionally with Compliance, Legal, Labor, Benefits, and vendor teams to address issues and support strategy
- Oversee retiree benefits administration, ensuring alignment with plan design changes and regulatory updates
- Manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher (Master's preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in Benefits or Human Resources
- Strong expertise in ERISA compliance and regulatory reporting, with focus on Health & Welfare retirement benefits
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret plan documents and regulations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to leadership
- Oracle/HCM systems
- Excel and database analysis
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Access)
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional
- Actuarial certification or actuarial experience
- Project management experience
- Experience supporting union or collective bargaining environments
- Strong presentation skills, including building and delivering executive-level materials
- Experience with Teams and collaboration tools
