This role focuses on supporting and operating cloud-hosted database environments with a strong emphasis on AWS-based infrastructure and Db2 systems. You will help ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of critical data platforms that support enterprise and government workloads. Working in a collaborative cloud engineering environment, you will contribute to backup and recovery operations, automation, performance tuning, and secure database administration. The position is well-suited for professionals who want to deepen their expertise in cloud database operations while working on mission-driven systems. You will interact closely with infrastructure and application teams to support scalable deployments and resilient data pipelines. This is a hands-on technical role where stability, security, and continuous improvement are key priorities.
- Accountabilities In this role, you will support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of cloud-hosted database systems while ensuring high availability and data integrity. You will assist in automation efforts, performance monitoring, and secure database administration in AWS environments. Support backup, restore, and recovery processes to ensure data continuity and protection Administer and maintain relational databases including Db2 and other systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and assist in tuning and optimization efforts Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools such as Bash, Python, or Perl Support ETL workflows, data pipelines, and data modeling initiatives Work in Linux/UNIX environments to manage daily database operations Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to support cloud deployments Implement and maintain database security controls, access policies, and compliance requirements Document procedures, configurations, and operational standards for knowledge sharing Requirements The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on experience in database administration within cloud or hybrid environments, with a strong focus on AWS and Db2 systems.
