In this senior leadership role, you will shape the technical direction and engineering execution for a large-scale, customer-focused e-commerce platform operating in a high-growth environment. You will be responsible for defining long-term architecture strategy, guiding system scalability, and ensuring operational excellence across distributed engineering teams. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical influence, requiring close collaboration with product, operations, and business stakeholders. You will lead and grow engineering managers and senior engineers while building a strong culture of accountability, innovation, and delivery excellence. With a strong focus on reliability, performance, and modern engineering practices, you will help evolve platforms that support complex, high-transaction business operations. • Accountabilities: In this role, you will define engineering direction, lead teams at scale, and ensure delivery of reliable, high-performing systems across the organization. You will also collaborate cross-functionally to align technology execution with business outcomes. Define and drive multi-year engineering and architecture strategy aligned with business goals Guide system design decisions to ensure scalability, resilience, and performance Oversee Site Reliability Engineering practices to ensure uptime and operational excellence Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders Establish engineering standards, KPIs, and best practices to improve delivery quality and team health Manage resource planning, hiring strategies, and succession planning across engineering teams Partner closely with Product, Operations, and business leadership to prioritize initiatives Ensure consistent execution of large-scale engineering programs and initiatives Requirements: This role requires deep technical expertise combined with proven leadership experience in managing large engineering organizations and delivering complex systems. 15+ years of software engineering experience, including 10+ years in leadership roles managing teams and managers Strong experience designing and scaling distributed, cloud-based systems Deep knowledge of system architecture, software design principles, and engineering best practices Strong backend experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and Redis Exposure to frontend technologies such as JavaScript, React, and TypeScript Understanding of modern DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, etc.) Experience working with or leading Site Reliability Engineering initiatives is highly preferred Strong communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders Experience using AI tools to improve engineering productivity is a plus Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage Paid time off, holidays, and wellness initiatives Retirement/provident fund contributions Annual professional development budget for learning and growth Work-from-home support stipend and company-provided equipment Mental health and employee wellbeing programs Ownership and equity-linked growth opportunities Flexible and remote-friendly work environment Recognition programs and strong culture of appreciation
