Description
  • The EU Amazon Customer Excellence System team (ACES) is seeking an enthusiastic, data- driven, and technology-minded Process Owner to contribute to one of the most exciting and strategically critical launches in EU Operations: the rollout of the EU 1DC (One Distribution Centre) network. The EU ACES PSE (Process and Systems Engineering) is a team of Process Owners with the mission to support Fulfilment Centre (FC) & Distribution Centre (DC) process improvement on behalf of Amazon customers. As the intermediary between operations and software teams, our team is responsible for project execution, process maintenance and troubleshooting, and change management for new hardware and software deployments in our FCs & DCs. We own the virtual process setup, software, and equipment standardization and design & rollout of software projects. We define launch standards and provide end-to- end support for new FC/DC launches and ad-hoc FC/DC process support. Our vision, together with the Amazon Fulfilment Technology team, is to develop efficient and reliable systems enabling our operations teams to process and fulfil customer shipments on time and free of defects. This role sits at the heart of the EU 1DC program — a transformational shift in how Amazon fulfils customer orders across Europe. As the Slotting Process Owner, you will be the EU's go-to expert for one of the most operationally impactful processes in the 1DC network: the systematic assignment of ASINs to optimal storage locations. Slotting directly determines picking efficiency, replenishment frequency, transfer cancellation rates, and labour productivity across the entire DC network. You will be building this capability from the ground up for EU, drawing on North America learnings while shaping a uniquely EU model that spans both 1P and 3P operations. A successful candidate will work in partnership with existing Process Owners and the worldwide Subject Matter Experts (SME) network towards the design, development, and tactical execution of slotting process improvement plans and new product development plans. This role requires the ability to travel to EU and NNorth America A up to 40% of the time. Key job responsibilities Be the EU/UK Operations Customer Fulfilment network's 'go-to' subject matter expert for slotting operations across the 1DC network, covering both 1P and 3P operations  Own the end-to-end weekly slotting execution cycle — from triggering HSR (Home Slot Recommendation System) optimization runs to validating outputs, aligning on site relocation capacity, and monitoring transfer cancellation metrics daily  Influence strategic goals by shaping the technical vision and roadmap for slotting through idea scoping, business analysis, prioritization, and robust planning — including driving the AFT slotting improvement roadmap toward automation and hands-off-the-wheel execution  Write compelling business proposals for a cross-functional audience of senior leaders and experts  Track and report slotting performance metrics including transfer cancellation rates, replenishment picked by NBD, and slot utilization, identifying trends and driving corrective actions with site operations  Drive cross-functional discussions with AFT, Supply Chain Execution, SCOT, and Category Supply Chain teams by providing operational data, site-level feedback, and execution insights that inform slotting process improvements. Identify opportunities to improve slotting accuracy, reduce manual intervention, and contribute to the long-term automation roadmap in partnership with technology teams  Create standards for slotting processes and training materials in collaboration with the Learning & Development team, to secure a high level of knowledge within FC and DC operations  Collaborate with the extended EU ACES teams to define process standards and metrics meeting daily and seasonal operational needs, including event-driven ASIN additions for Prime Day and Holiday peaks  Build a network with worldwide teams to share knowledge and identify and implement best practices across the region and network, including formalizing the transition of business-as-usual execution to other org once operational stability is achieved A day in the life As a Senior Process Improvement Expert within the 1DC program, no two days are the same. You will be at the centre of a fast-moving program that is redefining how Amazon operates distribution centres in Europe. In the morning, you might be analysing transfer cancellation metrics and running constrained slotting scenarios to align with site relocation capacity. By afternoon, you could be validating HSR outputs with site operations or coordinating catalogue attribute fixes with Retail and Quality teams. You will balance weekly execution cadence with ad-hoc operational challenges, coordinating across site operations, supply chain, and technology teams to keep slotting on track. Beyond execution, you will identify patterns and gaps in the slotting process that drive continuous improvement, working with partners to refine workflows and reduce manual touchpoints over time. Your role is to keep the slotting engine running while building the foundation for a more automated and scalable process. About the team Amazon Customer Excellence Systems (ACES) team plays a critical role in orchestrating cross-functional technology and continuous improvement projects from scoping and design to test and rollout. The team plays a vital role in integration and communication between the Amazon Technology Teams, Fulfilment centre (FC) and Distribution Centre (DC) Operations. Our goal is to design autonomous and automated systems to replace complex decision- making with simple solutions and facilitate end-to-end operational control of fulfilment execution. Within this mission, the 1DC Slotting role is a flagship initiative — you will be establishing EU's slotting capability from scratch, working at the intersection of operations, technology, and supply chain to unlock the full potential of the 1DC network.
