Job Description

Fleet Support Engineer

Vehicle Development

We are seeking an experienced Fleet Support Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance, and operational readiness of our vehicle fleet. This role sits at the intersection of hardware, software, and operations, requiring strong technical expertise in sensor systems and a hands-on approach to diagnosing and resolving field issues. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, works effectively across teams, and takes ownership of complex technical challenges from investigation through resolution.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as the escalation lead for sensor and perception-related issues impacting fleet operations.
  • Analyze vehicle logs and system data to isolate faults, determine root causes, and drive corrective actions.
  • Create and continuously refine technical documentation and troubleshooting procedures for field technicians.
  • Support integration and validation of new sensor hardware, including LiDAR, radar, and camera systems.
  • Establish repeatable diagnostic workflows to improve efficiency in identifying calibration, communication, and data quality issues.
  • Review historical vehicle and fleet-level datasets to detect recurring problems and performance trends.
  • Partner with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to strengthen monitoring tools and diagnostic visibility.
  • Implement fleet-wide corrective measures and verify their effectiveness through structured validation metrics.
  • Identify and define critical data signals needed to measure system health and confirm issue resolution.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in vehicle reliability and operational uptime.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support when necessary (advance notice provided).
  • Travel periodically within the U.S. to assist at operational locations.

What You Bring

  • 6+ years of experience in transportation, aerospace, robotics, electric vehicles, or autonomous systems, with significant exposure to perception hardware.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting low- and high-voltage systems safely.
  • Familiarity with Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS) and vehicle communication frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, including hardware/software integration and network communications.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and connector pinouts.
  • Systems-level thinking with the capability to decompose complex vehicle behavior into component-level issues.
  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with strong cross-functional communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background screening.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting electric vehicle platforms.
  • Background in remote vehicle diagnostics and field support.
  • Proficiency with Linux environments and Python for log parsing or fleet-scale data analysis.
  • Experience developing or maintaining software that interfaces directly with hardware.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP and socket-level communication.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard vehicle diagnostic tools.

Salary Range: $100,000-125,000

The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
