Working alongside experienced Account Executives, Business Development professionals, Solution Architects, and Engineering teams, the Associate Account Manager develops the foundational skills required to become a trusted technology advisor to Federal customers.
The Associate Account Manager participates throughout the sales lifecycle—including territory planning, prospecting, customer discovery, opportunity qualification, solution positioning, proposal support, and account development—while learning Trace3's consultative, outcome-based sales methodology. This position serves as the primary development path into an Account Executive role and provides hands-on experience across Trace3's portfolio of cloud, cybersecurity, AI, networking, infrastructure, data, digital transformation, and managed services solutions. Through structured coaching, technical training, sales enablement, and field experience, Associates build the competencies necessary to independently manage customer relationships and a personal territory. Advancement is based upon demonstrated performance, pipeline development, customer engagement, business acumen, technical proficiency, and alignment with Trace3's core values and leadership principles.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and execute strategic prospecting activities to identify and qualify new opportunities within assigned Federal accounts and territories.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through outbound prospecting, referrals, partner engagement, industry events, marketing campaigns, and customer networking.
- Research Federal agencies, organizations, mission priorities, acquisition strategies, contract vehicles, and key decision makers to support account planning activities.
- Conduct customer discovery conversations to understand business objectives, operational challenges, technical requirements, and mission priorities.
- Partner closely with Account Executives to develop territory strategies, account plans, and opportunity pursuit activities.
- Collaborate with Business Development, Capture, Solution Architects, Engineering, Marketing, and OEM partners throughout the opportunity lifecycle.
- Learn and effectively communicate Trace3 Government's portfolio of technology solutions, including cloud, cybersecurity, AI, networking, infrastructure, data & analytics, digital modernization, and managed services.
- Support opportunity qualification, pipeline management, forecasting, CRM hygiene, quote development, proposal activities, and customer follow-up.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions, pipeline activity, forecasts, and sales opportunities within Salesforce.
- Develop an understanding of the Federal procurement lifecycle, including GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, SEWP, GSA Schedule, and agency-specific acquisition processes.
- Build productive relationships with OEM partners and internal stakeholders to support customer engagements and solution development.
- Consistently achieve established activity, pipeline development, and performance objectives.
- Continuously expand technical, business, and Federal market knowledge through formal training, certifications, coaching, and self-development.
- Represent Trace3 Government professionally during customer meetings, conferences, partner events, and industry engagements.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- One to three years of experience in technology sales, business development, consulting, customer success, military leadership, or other customer-facing professional roles.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand customer challenges and align technology solutions to desired business outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Highly organized with strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, coachable, competitive, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Experience utilizing CRM platforms such as Salesforce and standard Microsoft Office productivity tools.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel as business needs require.
