Job Description

  • This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Revenue Accountant & Operations Analyst based in India. Take on a senior, high-impact role at the intersection of revenue accounting, financial operations, and process optimization. You will oversee the end-to-end revenue lifecycle, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, reliable financial reporting, and compliance with ASC 606 standards. Working across SaaS, hardware, and services revenue streams, you will manage complex contracts, lead month-end and quarter-end closing activities, and strengthen financial controls. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Legal, Operations, and FP&A to resolve challenges, improve forecasting, and streamline workflows. With a strong focus on automation, audit readiness, and operational excellence, you will help build scalable processes that support business growth. This remote opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive measurable improvements in a dynamic technology environment.
  • Accountabilities: Lead the review and analysis of complex sales contracts, purchase orders, and multi-element arrangements to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606. Manage revenue arrangements in NetSuite, including configuring and validating contract start and end dates, revenue schedules, billing information, and subsidiary ledger entries. Own end-to-end monthly and quarterly revenue close activities, including preparing journal entries, managing revenue deferrals and accruals, performing reconciliations, and analyzing variances. Oversee project-based revenue tracking and milestone-based recognition, ensuring deliverables are accurately recorded, completed on time, and supported by appropriate documentation. Maintain standalone selling price (SSP) allocation models and prepare comprehensive, audit-ready documentation to support external audits and internal Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. Reconcile revenue information across Salesforce, NetSuite, and internal reporting systems to maintain data integrity and consistency across financial records. Serve as a key point of contact for revenue accounting matters, partnering with Sales, Legal, and Operations to resolve revenue coding issues and implement proactive process improvements. Collaborate with FP&A on revenue forecasting, partner rebate programs, sales reserve accruals, and ad hoc financial analysis to support informed business decisions. Support revenue accounting for state and government-funded projects, applying appropriate accounting treatments to complex arrangements involving multiple products and services. Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline revenue reporting, reduce manual work, improve operational efficiency, and reinforce internal controls. Mentor and guide junior revenue analysts and accountants, reviewing their work, sharing technical expertise, and promoting consistent quality and compliance standards. Requirements: 12–15 years of progressive professional experience in revenue accounting, revenue operations, or general accounting, ideally within SaaS, hardware, or mixed-technology businesses. Expert knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards, including multiple performance obligations, variable consideration, contract modifications, and complex revenue arrangements. Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite, and CRM platforms such as Salesforce, including revenue schedules, billing data, and financial reconciliations. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets, with strong capabilities in financial analysis, data manipulation, reconciliation, and reporting. Proven experience leading month-end and quarter-end close processes, preparing audit documentation, maintaining internal controls, and supporting external audits and SOX compliance cycles. A demonstrated track record of implementing process automation, improving accounting workflows, and strengthening operational efficiency and financial reporting accuracy. Experience working cross-functionally with finance, sales, legal, and operations teams, with the ability to influence stakeholders and resolve complex accounting issues effectively. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, such as B.Com or BBA; a CA or CPA qualification is advantageous, alongside equivalent relevant practical experience. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, organization, and communication skills, combined with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including mentoring junior team members, reviewing deliverables, and promoting accountability and continuous improvement. Preferred: Familiarity with business intelligence and analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI for financial reporting, data visualization, and revenue analysis. Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with geographically distributed teams. Benefits: Remote work flexibility: Work from anywhere in India in a fully remote role. Senior-level career opportunity: Take ownership of revenue accounting and operational processes with significant influence over financial reporting and business performance. Professional development: Expand your expertise in revenue recognition, financial systems, automation, and technology-sector accounting. Cross-functional exposure: Collaborate with stakeholders across accounting, finance, sales, legal, and operations. Leadership opportunities: Mentor junior professionals and contribute to stronger team capabilities, quality standards, and operational practices. Process innovation: Drive automation initiatives and help develop scalable, efficient, and compliant financial workflows. Inclusive work environment: Join a workplace committed to equal opportunity, diversity, and providing reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment and employment process.
