SUMMARY: The Physical Security Solution Engineer will be responsible for creating estimates and proposals for customers. This involves gathering information from a variety of sources and using it to create an estimate using our established software tools. You will be responsible for building a bill of materials and estimating the labor associated with all tasks of the project. This information is then used to write a comprehensive proposal for the customer. Some projects are relatively straightforward, while others will require you to think outside of the box. You will assist Project Managers by providing information related to the solution, and you will assist Sales Account Managers by acting as a subject matter expert.
PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:
- Engage with the sales team as the product expert and as an integral part of the sales process.
- Fluidly discuss Video Surveillance, Access Control and Intrusion systems and services with the sales team and customers who have a wide range of knowledge and experience.
- Review data to determine material and labor requirements for assigned projects; often related to but not limited to Video Surveillance, Access Control and Intrusion Detection systems.
- While following department processes, gather and compile information in order to create estimates for customers
- Develop Bill of Materials for assigned projects: work with internal purchasing department and manufacturers for lowest cost pricing, compute cost factors and prepare estimates.
- Write comprehensive scope of work and formal proposals
- Attend internal and external meetings and participate in the respective project kick-off meetings for assigned work.
- Consult with assigned internal customers, vendors, sales or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues for assigned customer projects.
- Assist Operations personnel with understanding agreements and bid figures for assigned projects.
- Act as the subject matter expert in a technical capacity for assigned projects.
- Manage multiple tasks related to assigned customer with a sense of urgency and in a timely manner with accuracy.
COMPETENCIES:
- 2+ years’ experience with one or more of the following technologies: Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion and IT Infrastructure.
- Familiar with a variety of security device manufacturers.
- Ability to be agile and manage your own workload with little supervision.
- Ability to be a productive contributor in a remote working environment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- 2+ years of pre-sales, customer facing, engineering experience and 2+ years’ experience in estimating, design or engineering.
- Experience in the industry or related experience working with large-scale projects or national deployments.
- Experience designing, configuring and engineering Video Surveillance, Access Control, Intrusion, infrastructure, data networks.
- Intermediate Excel skills including formatting and formula creation.
- Intermediate MS Word skills
- Working knowledge of IP Networking
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
- Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing).
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
TRAVEL: None
SALARY: $70,000 - $95,000 depending upon experience
