Job Description
  • Hi đź‘‹, I'm Dr. Grace Hunter, Chief Medical Officer at Sana. We're looking for a Primary Care Physician (Family Medicine or Internal Medicine) to help us build a different kind of primary care—one that's simpler for patients, more fulfilling for clinicians, and thoughtfully designed around technology. If you're energized by delivering outstanding virtual care while reimagining how healthcare should work, I'd love for you to consider joining our team. Sana’s vision is to make healthcare easy. Healthcare in the US is unnecessarily hard, for both patients and clinicians. At Sana, we’re building something different: a primary care experience that feels effortless, accessible, and personal, without sacrificing quality. As a Primary Care Physician on our virtual care team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering mostly asynchronous primary care to our members. We believe many primary care needs can be addressed more conveniently and just as safely through thoughtful asynchronous care, reserving real-time visits for situations where they add the most value. You’ll care for adult patients across preventive care, chronic disease management, and common acute concerns. And you’ll help redefine how care can be delivered—thoughtfully, efficiently, and with patients truly at the center. We’re looking for physicians who are not only strong in primary care, but also deeply curious, adaptable, and excited about the potential of technology and innovation to reshape healthcare delivery. This is a role for collaborative, low-ego team players who want to care for patients and help build a better system.
  • What you will do: Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered primary care across asynchronous and synchronous modalities, using strong clinical judgment to triage, manage, and refer patients appropriately. Build strong, longitudinal patient relationships that drive sustained engagement and high patient satisfaction. Use data and clinical insight to support proactive panel management, close care gaps, and improve outcomes as Sana’s population health capabilities evolve. Proactively contribute to clinical protocols, workflows, or operations that enhance patient experience, quality, or efficiency. Communicate with clarity and empathy while adhering to and strengthening team communication norms. Manage a fast-paced caseload of at least 20 asynchronous cases per day while maintaining excellent clinical standards. Quickly master Sana's clinical platforms, AI-assisted workflows, and technology, while identifying opportunities to improve our tools, workflows, and the way we deliver care. Provide physician supervision and clinical support for Advanced Practice Providers in accordance with state regulations, helping foster a collaborative, high-quality care team. Collaborate across clinical, product, and operations teams with humility, a low-ego mindset, and a commitment to shared success.

Available to work Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time. At least 3 years of independent outpatient primary care experience after residency Telemedicine and/or startup experience is preferred.

  • Founded in 2017, Sana is a health plan solution built for small and midsize businesses — designed around our integrated primary care service, Sana Care. It’s the foundation of everything we build: ensuring members can easily access high-quality, affordable care while employers and brokers have the tools they need to manage company benefits with confidence. We’ve been remote-first since day one, with a fully distributed team across the U.S. We value curiosity, ownership, and speed — and we build in the open, together. If you’re energized by solving complex, meaningful problems and want to help reshape how healthcare works from the inside out, we’d love to meet you.
