Job Description

Atwell is seeking a Proposal Marketing Associate to support our Power & Energy practice, including electric utility, transmission, and renewable energy markets. This is a remote role supporting teams across the U.S.

In this role, you will partner directly with Power & Energy leadership, technical teams, and business development professionals to develop strategic, high-impact proposals and client-facing materials that drive growth in traditional utility and renewable energy sectors.

The ideal candidate brings AEC marketing experience within power, utilities, transmission, or renewable energy and understands how to position technical engineering services in competitive energy markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support proposal and SOQ development for Power & Energy pursuits, including transmission, substations, generation, and renewable projects
  • Support capture planning for pursuits ranging from mid-sized to large-scale contracts
  • Collaborate closely with Power & Energy leadership to align messaging with strategic growth initiatives
  • Participate in go/no-go discussions, pursuit strategy meetings, and proposal reviews
  • Draft and edit technical proposal content, resumes, and project descriptions specific to utility and renewable energy work
  • Ensure proposals clearly communicate differentiators within electric utility and renewable markets
  • Design and format proposal materials using Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office
  • Support sales enablement efforts including presentations, client communications, and marketing collateral
  • Conduct market research related to electric utilities, transmission operators, and renewable energy developers
  • Maintain and organize Power & Energy project data, resumes, and marketing assets
  • Assist with conference support, industry events, and sector-specific award submissions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Business, or related field
  • 3–6+ years of proposal or marketing experience within AEC, engineering, or professional services
  • Direct experience supporting proposals for:
    • Electric utilities
    • Transmission and distribution
    • Substations or generation
    • Renewable energy (solar, wind, BESS)
  • Experience supporting RFPs, RFQs, and SOQs for utility or energy clients
  • Strong understanding of proposal capture processes and pursuit strategy
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign required; Illustrator and Photoshop preferred)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience working with CRM systems and proposal tracking tools preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines in a deadline-driven environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working directly with Power & Energy or Utility business line leadership
  • Familiarity with investor-owned utilities, co-ops, municipalities, or renewable developers
  • Experience supporting pursuits ranging from $500K to multi-million-dollar contracts
  • Knowledge of utility industry trends and renewable energy market dynamics
