Job Description
Who We Are
Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation delivering specialty outpatient care for people with severe mental illness through high-acuity, in-person clinics nationwide.
Our integrated model brings psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community support together under one roof. Leading health systems—including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit—collaborate with us to expand this level of care.
Alongside care delivery, we are building the science and technology the field has long lacked—proprietary clinical protocols, novel measurement, and an AI-driven data platform designed for severe mental illness.
The impact: fewer hospitalizations, greater stability, and more people living meaningful lives in their communities.
The Role
Amae is building a care model for people with severe mental illness that doesn’t exist anywhere else — deeply integrated, in-person care delivered in partnership with leading health systems.
As we scale, we’re building the compliance and quality infrastructure to match.
We’re hiring a Quality & Compliance Manager to own and operationalize this work — with a primary focus on Joint Commission readiness and ongoing accreditation.
This is a builder role. You’ll take complex regulatory requirements, turn them into clear systems, and drive execution across clinical and operational teams.
You won’t wait for direction. You’ll figure it out and get it done.
What You’ll Work On
Regulatory Compliance
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local laws and ensuring adherence to CMS, HIPAA, and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission
- Own ongoing compliance across all clinics
- Lead surveys end-to-end: prep, execution, follow-up
- Run quality committees, maintain documentation, and proactively close gaps
Compliance Execution
- Translate regulatory requirements into clear, usable workflows
- Build and maintain policies, procedures, and compliance infrastructure
- Support new market launches (licensure, accreditation, certification)
Clinical Quality
- Own core quality metrics (follow-ups, readmissions, documentation compliance)
- Lead root cause analyses and drive improvement initiatives
- Facilitate case reviews and quality forums
Incidents & Risk
- Own incident and grievance processes end-to-end
- Build systems to track patterns and reduce risk
Audit & Monitoring
- Conduct audits, identify gaps, and drive corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, usable P&P library with strong version control
What You Bring
- 4–7 years in healthcare compliance, quality, or regulatory roles
- Strong familiarity with Joint Commission (behavioral health preferred)
- Experience supporting or leading a TJC survey is a strong plus
- Proven ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments
- Strong project management — you can drive multiple workstreams to completion
- Ability to translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance
- Analytical mindset — you use data to identify issues and drive improvement
- Startup or high-growth experience preferred
Nice to have:
- Behavioral health or PHP/IOP experience
- Clinical background or licensure
How You Work
- High ownership — you don’t wait, you move
- Structured and detail-oriented, without losing speed
- Low ego, high standards
- Comfortable pushing back and influencing across teams
Why This Role Matters
You’ll build the systems that allow Amae to scale nationally while maintaining safe, high-quality, and compliant care.
Compensation includes a base salary of $112,000 - $175,000 (based on level, experience and geography) plus equity ownership, giving you a meaningful stake in Amae's growth. Total compensation includes comprehensive medical/dental/vision, unlimited PTO, parental leave, and programs built around employee well-being. We’ll share specifics during the interview process.
Amae Health is building the care platform, the precision medicine, and the frontier science that severe mental illness has never had. If you want to be part of creating something this hard and this important, something that has never been done, we’d like to talk.
