Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Religion Specialist – Freelance AI Trainer Project based in United States. This freelance opportunity is designed for individuals with knowledge of religion, theology, and cultural or historical perspectives on belief systems. You will help evaluate and improve advanced AI models as they interpret religious texts, doctrines, traditions, and historical contexts. The role combines subject-matter expertise with analytical evaluation, critical thinking, and structured feedback. You will challenge AI systems with complex religious and cultural scenarios and identify inaccuracies, oversimplifications, and reasoning failures. Your work will contribute to improving AI accuracy, neutrality, cultural awareness, and responsible interpretation of sensitive topics. The project is suitable for both experienced specialists and entry-level candidates with strong academic, teaching, or independent-study backgrounds. As a freelance contributor, you will work remotely and have the opportunity to directly influence the development of more knowledgeable and culturally informed AI systems.
- Accountabilities: Engage advanced language models with questions, scenarios, and analytical tasks related to religion, theology, religious history, philosophy, sacred texts, and cultural perspectives on belief systems. Evaluate model responses for factual accuracy, neutrality, logical consistency, cultural sensitivity, and quality of interpretation. Assess how effectively AI systems understand and explain religious texts, doctrinal differences, ethical frameworks, religious practices, historical contexts, and interfaith perspectives. Identify and document model failure modes, including inaccurate information, oversimplification of beliefs, misinterpretation of texts, and misleading historical or cultural claims. Capture clear and reproducible error traces that can be used to understand and address weaknesses in model reasoning. Provide structured, detailed feedback to improve prompts, evaluation frameworks, reasoning quality, and cultural accuracy. Clearly articulate interpretive reasoning and analytical steps to help translate subject-matter expertise into useful AI training data. Contribute insights that support the development of AI systems capable of providing more accurate educational, historical, and cultural information about religion. Requirements: Knowledge or demonstrated interest in areas such as world religions, theology, religious studies, religious history, philosophy of religion, comparative religion, sacred texts, anthropology, or cultural studies. A degree in religious studies, theology, history, anthropology, or a related humanities discipline is preferred but not required. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply if they have relevant coursework, independent study, teaching experience, or a strong academic or personal interest in religion and cultural studies. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex interpretations and distinguish accurate information from flawed or biased reasoning. Excellent written communication skills and the ability to clearly explain reasoning, assumptions, and interpretive steps. Strong metacognitive communication skills, including the ability to “show your work” when evaluating how conclusions are reached. Ability to assess sensitive religious and cultural topics objectively, respectfully, and with appropriate neutrality. Strong attention to detail and ability to identify subtle factual, contextual, logical, or interpretive errors. Ability to work independently, follow structured evaluation criteria, and provide consistent, high-quality feedback. Curiosity about artificial intelligence and interest in contributing subject-matter expertise to the development of advanced language models. Benefits: Freelance/contract opportunity with remote, worldwide working arrangements. Flexible project-based work suitable for both entry-level contributors and experienced subject-matter specialists. Compensation ranging from $6 to $65 per hour, with the final rate determined based on experience, expertise, and geographic location. Opportunity to apply your knowledge of religion and cultural studies to the development of advanced AI systems. Direct contribution to improving AI literacy, educational usefulness, cultural understanding, and responsible interpretation of complex topics. Opportunity to work on intellectually engaging AI evaluation and training projects involving religion, history, culture, and reasoning. Contractors provide their own secure computer and high-speed internet connection. Company-sponsored benefits such as health insurance and paid time off are not provided for this contract role.
