Newfire is seekinga Senior AI/NLP Engineer to lead technical architecture and platform development for enterprise AI implementations. You'll design reusable AI components that transform unstructured data into actionable insights across diverse business functions, from document processing to automated decision support systems.
- 5+ years experience building NLP/AI systems in production environments
- Deep expertise with transformer models, large language models, and modern AI frameworks
- Strong software engineering background with Python, distributed systems, and cloud platforms
- Experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, document management, etc.)
- Proven track record building production AI systems that handle messy, real-world data
- Understanding of data governance, privacy-preserving ML techniques, and secure development practices
- Experience evaluating and implementing third-party AI platforms and APIs
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Preferred:
- Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers
- Background working with domain-specific data such as clinical records, financial documents, legal contracts, marketing content, or customer communications
- Knowledge of industry-specific compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOX, GDPR, etc.)
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture patterns and integration frameworks
- Contributions to open-source AI projects or research publications
- Advanced degree in relevant field
Your day-to-day activities:
- Architect and build scalable AI/NLP platforms for processing unstructured text, documents, and data across enterprise systems
- Develop reusable components for entity extraction, content classification, document understanding, and automated reasoning
- Lead technical implementation of AI-enabled workflows that integrate with existing enterprise applications
- Evaluate and integrate off-the-shelf AI tools and services, making informed build vs. buy decisions
- Design data privacy and security systems to enable distributed AI development workflows
- Build production-ready AI pipelines that handle real-world data variability and quality challenges
- Mentor junior engineers on AI/NLP best practices and enterprise integration patterns
- Collaborate with data scientists to operationalize exploratory models into scalable solutions
- Establish technical standards for compliance, audit trails, and regulatory requirements
