Job Description
  • This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Application Developer based in the United States. This role focuses on developing, enhancing, maintaining, and automating web applications and data-processing workflows. You’ll work primarily with Python, databases, SQL, and modern web technologies to build reliable software solutions. The position offers an opportunity to contribute across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and design through testing, deployment, and maintenance. You’ll help automate processes, improve application quality, and reduce manual effort. The environment combines software engineering, application development, data workflows, and quality control. Experience with GIS and geospatial technologies is valuable, while strong engineering fundamentals and adaptability are central to success. The position is flexible and remote, with occasional on-site support as needed.
  • Accountabilities: You’ll contribute across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver maintainable, high-quality applications and automated workflows. Design, develop, test, maintain, and enhance software applications using established engineering principles and practices. Develop and maintain modern web applications, including applications using Vue.js and other contemporary frameworks. Build Python applications and automated workflows that streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and support product creation and delivery. Analyze business and technical requirements, evaluate existing processes, identify improvement opportunities, and develop logical, maintainable solutions. Develop and maintain database-driven applications and workflows, including writing and troubleshooting SQL queries. Participate throughout the SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, development, code reviews, testing, integration, deployment, maintenance, and documentation. Support software quality control and testing, including identifying defects and incorporating QC into automated workflows where appropriate. Maintain and enhance existing applications through front-end improvements, capability extensions, modernization, or redevelopment. Collaborate with staff, developers, analysts, and other technical teams to design and implement effective software solutions. Requirements The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering experience, advanced Python skills, and the ability to work effectively across application development, databases, automation, and SDLC activities. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification. 7+ years of professional software engineering or software development experience. 5+ years of professional Python development experience. 3+ years of web application development experience using modern technologies and frameworks. Strong understanding of software engineering principles, SDLC practices, and application design. Experience working with relational databases and SQL. Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Vue.js or other modern JavaScript frameworks is desired. Experience with metadata automation, software quality control, and automated testing is a plus. Experience with GIS, geospatial data, or Esri technologies is beneficial. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies is preferred. Experience with RESTful APIs and web services is desirable. Must be authorized to work in the United States. Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Candidates will undergo a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, education, professional certification, previous employment, and credit history verification. Public Trust investigations typically take approximately 4–8 weeks and require fingerprinting. Benefits Salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually. Full-time, W2 employment.
