BBYO • BBYO Remote, Washington, DC, United States
Posted: October 12, 2026
Job Description
Location: Remote (U.S.-based) — Washington, DC metro area preferred
Salary Range: $115,000 – $125,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time
Reports To: SVP, Operational Effectiveness
Department: Systems, Technology and Operational Effectiveness
At BBYO, we are motivated by our mission and by each other, making work inspiring, flexible, fulfilling, and deeply connected to the future of Jewish life. As the world’s leading pluralistic Jewish teen movement, BBYO is constantly looking for creative ways to reach, inspire, and engage Jewish teens through meaningful experiences, powerful relationships, and partnerships that expand what is possible.
The Senior Director, AI Strategy and Enablement will build lasting AI capability across BBYO, turning emerging technology into practical, mission-aligned work. This role will provide vision, direction and governance framework for how BBYO identifies high-value opportunities, selects AI solutions that accelerate our work, and secures cross-functional engagement to deliver them at scale. This is a collaborative role: the Senior Director sets direction with BBYO’s senior leadership, partners with IT to build and secure the tools, and works alongside departments, the People team, and training staff to put AI into everyday practice.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Leadership and Enablement
- Serve as BBYO’s internal expert on AI and set the direction for where it is worth applying.
- Provide vision, direction, and practical governance for AI adoption across the organization.
- Serve as an advisor to teams, helping them identify opportunities, redesign how work gets done, and develop practices that stick.
- Lead with process and workflow design; Work with teams to map how work actually gets done, including where it breaks and what it costs in time.
- Redesign and simplify processes first, so that whatever gets automated sits on a solid foundation.
- Design feedback/sharing mechanism so successful approaches are shared, refined, and adopted across teams.
- Establish clear, practical principles for responsible AI use, spanning data privacy and quality, accuracy and bias, and transparency, and help staff weigh those considerations in their work.
Training and Adoption
- Develop and oversee an enablement approach spanning staff training, hands-on support, and peer learning.
- Build AI learning into existing professional development and onboarding.
- Equip staff not only to use AI tools, but to identify opportunities, solve problems, and apply AI in ways that advance organizational goals.
- Build honest discussion of AI’s limitations and trade-offs into that work, so staff adopt these tools thoughtfully rather than uncritically.
- Help staff apply BBYO’s acceptable use guidelines in real decisions and raise where guidance or emerging regulation needs another look.
Data Strategy and Insight
- Recommend how BBYO approaches data strategy, cleanup, and governance, sequenced so that the work follows real projects rather than arriving as a separate initiative.
- Help the organization use AI to draw more value from its existing data, programs, and operations.
- Build the capacity to ask larger questions of that information and act on the answers.
- Surface the data problems that process work uncovers, and recommend the cleanup, shared definitions, and standards a project needs to hold up.
Technology and Platforms
- In coordination with existing technology staff or partners, help guide the selection and rollout of AI platforms, secure access, and standards that protect data integrity while keeping tools genuinely useful to staff.
- Where it helps, prototype and build hands-on, partnering with IT on access, permissions, data protection, and security as tools move into production and scale.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR MAKING A LASTING IMPACT
Our team has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for innovation to drive positive change. We are looking for a translator and an enabler: someone genuinely fluent in AI, energized by teaching, and curious about how an organization actually works. Deeper technical skill is a plus, not a prerequisite. Qualifications are as follows:
- 7+ years in technology, systems, operations, organizational development, digital transformation, or a closely related field, with progressive responsibility.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Process mapping and business analysis. You can get the real story out of a department that has never documented anything, and write it down clearly enough that someone can act on it.
- Change leadership. A track record of moving people from curiosity to confident, sustained practice, in an organization where adoption had to be earned.
- AI fluency. Hands-on fluency with today’s tools, a working understanding of their limits, and the habit of staying current.
- Enough technical depth to prototype and vet. You build working prototypes yourself and can tell whether a scope, an estimate, or a vendor claim holds up.
- Communication and influence. You explain technical work in plain language, build strong relationships, and earn support from senior leaders and teams you don’t manage.
- Data literacy. Enough comfort with data to recommend cleanup and shared definitions, and to help teams ask better questions of their information.
- Sound instincts on privacy, data integrity, and responsible use of organizational information.
- Comfort with ambiguity. You thrive in a fast, decentralized, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferred
- Nonprofit, mission-driven, or multi-site experience.
- Formal process improvement training (Lean, Six Sigma, or business process management).
- Familiarity with Claude, Microsoft 365 and Copilot, and Salesforce.
- Practical experience building AI workflows, skills, or prompts that carry an organization’s knowledge and voice.
- Enough technical depth to review the code behind what staff build, not just whether to build it. Not required, but a strong plus.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Commitment to BBYO’s mission and an appreciation for the role Jewish teen engagement plays in building vibrant Jewish communities and future generations of leaders.
- Ability to travel occasionally for staff gatherings, International Convention, and on-site work with departments and regions.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without holding a visa or sponsorship.
- To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and function with or without reasonable accommodation in accordance with applicable law.
