Space Inch continues to grow! Following a string of successful hires, we keep on growing our engineering team.
We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to contribute to one of our longest-running and most successful projects. You’ll be part of an established Space Inch engineering team while also collaborating closely with our client’s team - a major global FinTech corporation in the field of investment management with multiple long-term initiatives underway.

About Working at Space Inch
- Our team is around 80 people, primarily based in Croatia, but also with members in South America, Serbia, and the US; the product team mostly being in the US, and engineering in Croatia and Brazil
- We are remote-first, but occasional travel may be required, e.g. for our annual company retreats
- We work on end-to-end projects with a long-term vision
- We prioritize work-life balance, even with a globally distributed team
- 7+ years of professional software development, with 5+ years specifically in Java (Spring and Spring Boot)
- Strong general backend knowledge
- Strong experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL; bonus points for NoSQL DBs (e.g. MongoDB)
- Knowledge of Docker and working within Azure environments
- Familiarity with modern TypeScript standards and frontend frameworks (Vue.js is preferred, but React/Angular experience is welcomed)
- Experience with CI/CD practices and tools
- Familiarity with DevOps, Kubernetes and general Cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with security best practices and web tokens (JWT)
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and Build: Design, develop, and deploy high-quality applications and microservices, owning the backend architecture and coding standards
- Collaborate: Work closely with other developers, product managers and cross-functional teams (including client teams) to translate requirements into elegant technical solutions
- Quality First: Write clean, maintainable code, conduct thorough code reviews, mentor other developers and share your knowledge
- Iterate: Debug and optimize existing software to ensure maximum performance and reliability
