Job Description
Texas Sports Academy is a K-12 school designed for serious student-athletes who want both elite academics and high-level athletic development. Students learn twice as fast as traditional schools in just 2 hours a day, using the same 2-Hour Learning model as Alpha School. That frees up their entire afternoon for serious training, where they work alongside former pro and D1 athletes coaching them at the highest standard.
We are an AI-first school where AI is woven into how students learn, how the team works, and how we build and scale everything we do. We're hiring remote Software Engineers to build the products behind our school: educational apps, sports training apps, and AI systems that power how we teach, train, and operate.
What You'll Do
- Build Products Students and Athletes Use: Design, build, and ship the learning apps and sports training apps that students, coaches, and families use every day, from the data model to the user interface, and keep them running once they're live.
- Wear a Bunch of Different Hats: One week you’ll build a student-facing learning app, the next a data pipeline, an AI agent for admissions, or a tool for coaches. You'll work across the whole stack and every part of the school.
- Work Daily with AI Coding Tools: Use Cursor, Claude Code, and Codex as your primary development environment, backed by a $5,000 per month token budget that is yours to spend on whichever models do the job best. Become an expert on how to use the most capable AI models for engineering.
- Own the Product: We want you to own projects end to end like a product engineer, from the first conversation through production and everything that comes after launch. Stay close to the students, coaches, and parents who use what you build, keep iterating on their feedback, and ship something they genuinely love. If you want to grow into a product expert as well as an engineer, this is the place to do it.
- A Product Mindset: You care about the person using what you build as much as the code behind it. You ask what students, coaches, and parents actually need, check whether it worked, and keep making it better.
- Engineering Generalist: You pick up new parts of the stack quickly and are just as comfortable building a mobile app, a website, a VR experience, or a game. When something is new to you, you lean on AI to get up to speed and ship.
- Expert in AI Coding Tools: You use Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools every day and know them inside and out. You can show us production work where AI coding tools were central to how you built it, and you have strong, tested opinions on which tool to use and when.
- Expert Engineering Fundamentals: You can take on any part of a codebase, debug the hardest problems, design APIs and data models from scratch, and write code that others can maintain. You know how to keep production stable at scale, and you have shipped systems that prove it.
- Clear Spoken and Written English: You'll be on calls with the U.S. team every day, so clear communication, in conversation and in writing, is essential.
- You Want to Work Hard and Grow Fast: Most of the team works 60 or more hours a week, weekends included, and you're paid for every hour. This role is for people who want to accelerate their careers, learn faster than you ever have, and take on real responsibility quickly.
- Location: Remote.
Bonus Points
- AI Workflows in Production: You've built agent-style workflows or automations that real people rely on, not just demos or tutorials.
Why Join Us?
You'll work directly with company leadership on products that reach real students: software that helps kids learn quicker, train better, and grow up healthier. You get a $5,000 per month AI token budget and the freedom to use whichever models you want. Responsibility comes quickly to people who earn it, and pay rises with performance. If you want to work harder, learn faster, and advance sooner than you would at a large company, and be paid for every hour of it, this is a good place to do it.
