Job Description

Real Chemistry is seeking a highly experienced, growth-oriented SVP, Business Development to lead and scale our U.S. and global Medical Communications business. This role requires a tenured industry leader with deep expertise in medical communications across promotional medical education and medical affairs, and a proven track record of building client relationships that translate into meaningful, sustained revenue growth.

As our Medical capability continues to expand globally, this leader will play a critical role in shaping and executing our growth strategy, identifying new market opportunities, and elevating our presence across pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences clients. This is a highly visible leadership role with direct impact on revenue, market positioning, and long-term business performance.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded Med Comms leader who combines scientific fluency with strong business acumen, and who excels at building trusted executive-level relationships, leading complex pursuits, and converting opportunities into long-term partnerships.

This is a hybrid role, based in any of our U.S. offices including New York, Boston, Chicago, Lambertville, Carmel, or San Francisco, or remotely within the U.S., depending on business needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own and drive business development for Medical Communications across the U.S. and global markets, with accountability for top-line revenue growth
  • Identify, shape, and convert high-value opportunities across PME, medical affairs, publications, and integrated scientific communications
  • Build and execute scalable growth strategies, including expansion into new geographies, therapy areas, and client segments
  • Lead and influence complex, high-value RFPs and strategic pursuits, ensuring compelling, differentiated positioning
  • Leverage deep industry expertise and network to proactively originate opportunities and build senior-level client relationships
  • Translate pipeline intelligence and market insights into actionable growth strategies, including analysis of drug pipelines and launch activity
  • Partner cross-functionally across client services, scientific strategy, marketing, and executive leadership to drive integrated solutions and cross-sell opportunities
  • Represent Real Chemistry externally, elevating our Medical Communications presence through industry engagement, thought leadership, and executive client interactions
  • Mentor and influence internal teams to align around growth priorities and deliver against revenue targets

This Role is a Strong Fit for You If:

  • You are a senior Med Comms leader with a strong reputation for driving growth and building lasting client partnerships
  • You combine scientific credibility with commercial instincts and can confidently engage senior stakeholders across medical, commercial, and procurement functions
  • You thrive in a high-growth, evolving environment and are energized by building and scaling capabilities
  • You are both strategic and hands-on, able to lead vision while actively driving execution

What You Should Bring:

  • 15+ years of experience, with the majority within Medical Communications agencies, including meaningful exposure to PME and medical affairs
  • Demonstrated success driving new business and revenue growth within Med Comms, including originating opportunities and closing large, complex engagements
  • Deep understanding of the global Med Comms landscape, including evolving client needs, competitive dynamics, and regulatory considerations
  • Strong, established relationships within pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences organizations
  • Proven ability to lead multi-million dollar pursuits, influence senior stakeholders, and navigate complex decision-making environments
  • Executive presence and exceptional communication skills, with the ability to position value at the C-suite level
  • Experience working across integrated offerings, including alignment with advertising, digital, media, and data capabilities
  • A collaborative and agile leadership style, with experience operating effectively in matrixed, global organizations
