You'll lead the development of large-scale distributed systems that leverage machine learning to solve complex problems at scale, directly impacting how millions of customers discover products. We're building the next generation of platforms that enrich our product catalog, eliminate supply chain inefficiencies, and fill critical technology gaps across our worldwide retail operations. As a Senior Software Development Engineer, you'll drive technical strategy, mentor talented engineers, and collaborate across teams to create foundational services that enable rapid innovation and operational excellence. Key job responsibilities Define and execute technical strategy for our retail automation platform, aligning technical decisions with business goals and customer needs Architect and lead development of large-scale distributed systems, establishing design patterns and best practices that enable system-wide integration and operational excellence Build and mentor engineering teams, developing technical talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability Partner with machine learning scientists and research teams to design and implement intelligent solutions that scale across diverse retail use cases Design foundational services and frameworks that accelerate innovation, improve team velocity, and maintain high standards for scalability, reliability, and performance A day in the life We are a team of technologists passionate about building automation solutions that enhance Amazon's retail capabilities worldwide. Basic Qualifications
- - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team - Bachelor's degree
