Mentis AI • USA
Posted: February 23, 2026
Job Description
About Us Mentis AI works at the intersection of institutional finance expertise and frontier AI systems. Our team combines deep financial services experience (Lazard, Partners Group) with machine learning and applied AI research. Operating across London and San Francisco, we collaborate with leading AI labs to improve how models reason, generalize, and make decisions in high-stakes financial contexts.
The Opportunity AI is rapidly becoming embedded into core wealth management workflows from portfolio construction and asset allocation through client communication, financial planning, and integrated advisory delivery. This residency is designed for wealth management and private client professionals who want early, practical exposure to how advanced AI systems are built, evaluated, and improved in the context of high-net-worth advisory and family office investing.
You will:
Construct expert benchmarks: Build and validate real-world portfolio analyses, financial planning frameworks, and client advisory materials used to evaluate frontier AI systems.
Stress-test model reasoning: Diagnose weaknesses in AI-generated wealth management analyses, identifying where logic, assumptions, or advisory intuition fail.
Design frameworks: Translate how practitioners build tailored portfolios, select managers, navigate tax and estate considerations, and communicate investment rationale to sophisticated clients into problems that push the limits of AI reasoning.
Compare human vs. machine judgment: Systematically evaluate divergence between professional advisory judgment and AI outputs across asset allocation, alternatives, financial planning, and private client contexts.
Why This Experience Is Valuable
You will be among the first wealth management professionals to work directly on how frontier AI models reason about portfolio construction, financial planning, and private client advisory.
A distinctive profile for anyone who wants to sit at the intersection of wealth management and AI, whether at an RIA, a private bank, an AI company, or building something themselves.
Hands-on exposure to how AI is reshaping advisory workflows, from asset allocation and manager selection through tax-aware investing, estate planning, and client reporting.
Who You Are
5+ years of experience as a Financial Advisor, Portfolio Manager, or CIO at an RIA, private bank, or family office (e.g. Mercer Advisors, Creative Planning, NewEdge Capital Group, Moneta, Cresset, JPMorgan Private Bank, Goldman Sachs PWM, Citi Private Bank)
Experience managing complex client relationships with meaningful AUM ($5M+ households preferred)
Deep familiarity with asset allocation, manager selection, alternatives, tax-aware investing, and estate/trust planning considerations
Ability to articulate investment rationale and financial planning strategy clearly and concisely in writing
CFP, CFA, CIMA, or equivalent designation a plus
Genuine intellectual curiosity about the application of AI in wealth management and private client advisory
Residency Structure
Commitment: 15+ hours/week, flexible scheduling
Location: Remote globally, or in-person if based in London or San Francisco
Compensation: Paid professional engagement
Start date: Immediate / Rolling
