Job Description

Job Description: Materials Scientist (Nanoparticle Sizing & Lot Release)

Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Materials Scientists specializing in nanoparticle sizing, particle size distribution analysis, and lot release evaluation to contribute to an advanced nanomaterial assessment and AI training project.

The role focuses on evaluating nanoparticle characteristics using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). You will perform independent technical analysis, interpret complex micrographs, validate measurements, and provide expert assessments to support material qualification and quality control.

No prior AI experience is required. Strong domain expertise and analytical skills are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manually analyze TEM and SEM micrographs to assess nanoparticle size, distribution, and morphology.

  2. Determine and document particle size distributions (PSD) with accuracy and reproducibility.

  3. Establish and communicate lot-release acceptance criteria using technical reference cases and quality control standards.

  4. Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, methodologies, and recommendations for material qualification.

  5. Validate measurement techniques through manual calibration, image thresholding, and comparison with reference data.

  6. Participate in technical discussions and provide expert insights on nanomaterial characterization and quality control.

  7. Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to support collaboration and knowledge sharing across project teams.

Required Qualifications

  1. Advanced knowledge of nanomaterial characterization, particularly using TEM and SEM techniques.

  2. Hands-on experience in nanoparticle sizing, particle size distribution analysis, and lot release evaluation.

  3. Proficiency in manual image analysis, including thresholding, calibration, and complex morphology interpretation.

  4. Strong understanding of quality control standards and reference material qualification protocols.

  5. Ability to independently evaluate and validate technical reference cases without relying on AI-based tools.

  6. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical reporting skills.

  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  8. Background in materials science, scientific consulting, or laboratory-based analytical roles is preferred.
